The series never had a chance as it was written. There was NO drama written into the story. In fact, it would have been very close to impossible for the writers to have given us drama. Why? Because we already know who lives and who dies. There was a 0% chance that any of the main characters were going to die. And we didn't get to know the others one long enough to even care when they did die.
I doubt I will watch season two (btw, when the hell was it decided that seasons now consist of 6 episodes). I already know how it ends.
One more nitpick: How did Reva get to Tatooine so quickly. She was there quicker than Jabba the hut could suck down a Klatooine paddy frog.

(9,110 posts)Knowing the main characters live to A Hew Hope was a liberating feeling. And one I truly needed in this era of gun violence and subjugation of women. It was right up my ally.

(21,106 posts)It is the main reason I watch anime more than anything else. It is a wonderful escape for me.

(3,286 posts)Often we have a good idea what will happen.
I think the best ones might fill in some unknown major event that set up the events of the big film, or maybe present an answer to some mystery (how did Luke and Leia get progenerated together).

(66,316 posts)the characters themselves don't know that. We are watching them not know what their next step or decision will bring them. I thought the series is excellent. I think all of the Disney live-action series so far have been wonderful. Nitpickers gotta pick nits, but I'm already looking forward to my next re-watches of The Mandalorian, The Book Of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan.

(21,106 posts)AFAIC, anime beats live action every day. I don't expect others to agree, but imo, anime is the supreme means of transferring a good story to the screen.

(66,316 posts)For one thing, it was much better written (Sorry, GL; you're a great cinematic visionary and a terrible writer.)
And that glimpse of Anakin's face that you mentioned told more than a thousand pages of dialogue could have. The anger, the hatred, the regret and the despair; perfect.
I'm looking forward to another season, maybe focused a little more on young Luke. Obi-Wan is some excellent storytelling.

(13,964 posts)was excellent in projecting the despair and sadness that Obi-Wan still felt for his fallen apprentice. Great writing and great acting. I, too, am looking forward to a season 2.
