(39,152 posts)That was back in 1972. The album "In Search of a Lost Chord" had come out a few years before but it was an Art class favorite. There was overcrowding in our high school so they set up a few modular unit classrooms out by the football field that were away from the main building. (It was no fun trudging out to it during the northern Michigan winter, though, lol.) It was great because our art teacher was a hippie so he let us play music as loud as we wanted. Good times.
Thanks for the memory! And I'll bet they still sounded good, too.

(37,651 posts)Still 3 or 4 original members. They had 2 drummers then, as the original drummer said he now needs a little help because of a stroke and the lead singer and song writer passed away a couple of months after we saw them.

(62,143 posts)"Dr. Livingstone, I Presume," and he cowrote "Visions of Paradise" with Justin. My favorite of Ray's songs was always "For My Lady."
My favorite singer/songwriter in the band was always Justin, though, and there are a couple of his songs, off their 4th and 6th albums, that always make me feel better:
Nice to see Moodies songs here. They've been so much a part of the soundtrack of so many people's lives.

(43,165 posts)First, there's Melody Dancefit. She's so smooth, has all the right moves. In this video you will enjoy seeing her dance with amateurs in various locations. Pay special attention to the quote in the beginning!
Second, my all-time fave, Dua Lipa. There's just nobody like Dua. I love Levitating but I also love how she does Cold, Cold Heart with Elton John:
This one is looped, so just turn it off after you've heard enough.

(12,904 posts)My daughter got a new puppy for high school graduation. Named her Charlie. She was a tiny, tiny toy poodle. My daughter started college in the fall, so I took Charlie to work with me everyday.
On the way there, we listened to the oldies station, which seemed to play on a loop, because every time we got to a certain spot in our trip, Cracklin Rosie would come on. So, I started inserting Charlies name in the song, and it stuck.
She was a cracklin, feisty, 4 pound ball of ferocious. We lost her last summer, she was 16.5 years old, had traveled to 32 states, and had friends from coast to coast, and from northern to southern border.
I miss her, and proudly wear her name in some online places.

(9,148 posts)Im sorry about Charlie. It sounds like she had a great, happy, long life.

(637 posts)back in the day, when I was on the road making music, we played regularly in Hot Springs, AR. When we were finished tearing down after a show, we would often go to a Waffle Hut in a nearby village at 3 or 4 in the morning. This place would be full of farmers beginning their day. The juke box had mostly C&W, but there was 1, just 1, "rock" tune: Basket Case.
So we'd plug in ten or twelve bucks and play Basket Case over and over, much to the farmers' dismay I'm sure. They were probably relieved when we'd leave.
Still gives me a giggle to think of it. Good times.
