(90,021 posts)I dont know all that much about bees, but I do like to watch them in the garden. They seem to like what I planted there. Echinaceas, blue balloon flowers, dianthus, and more! Theres stuff I forgot about thats come up again and flourishing and they seem to like that, too. Really cool!
So satisfying out there!

(12,046 posts)My wife is very fond of reminding me how useless the males are once the mate with the queen. The drones are pretty much dead weight just hang around and use up resources
she thinks theres a human message in there somewhere.

(3,017 posts)And spend my retirement keeping bees. After all: I'd played the guy on stage...how hard could it be?
I soon found out when my brother in law invited me to help out with his twelve hives. We spent the whole day at it, from opening the first hive to centrifuging the last comb. Then he told me that if he didn't belong to a co-op he'd never be able to take a vacation!
I remind myself of that every time that fantasy enters my mind, now.

(17,742 posts)when she was little was very blonde to the point her hair almost looked white. She and her sister spent many a day at the pool. At one point in the summer her hair would have a tinge of green to it from the chemicals they put in the pool. My parents would say it was from the chlorine. That was back in the sixties.
