(114,503 posts)and these women are GOOD. Looks like they've got a lot of material on YouTube. I'll listen to it.
I also approve of the sentiment. I always figured if some guy had his eye out for someone better, it was a good idea to leave him to the chase. I had better things to do.

(73,419 posts)early 40's. said- the only country i like i cash.
willie? no. kristofferson? no.
so, i play him some steve earle, and a little jt. yuck. i'm like- dude they kicked steve out of nashville cuz he discovered rockabilly. sent distinctly bluesy or pop style. nope.
that was my clue that he was not the one. lol.

(114,503 posts)probably because I was so scarred by the formative years I spent in Dixie during a Klanner resurgence (kid with a Jewish last name and an Irish Catholic mother, they didn't know where to run first).
At work, when the radio was tuned to C&W, I could take about half an hour, then I said either tune it to oldies or I was going to have to kill somebody. Yeah, not my genre.
That isn't to say I reject all of it. I love McMurtry, the Chicks, Parton, and now these women.
I can still take only so much of it before I become homicidal.

(73,419 posts)one of my 1st jobs after my divorce was qc in a koolaid factory. the owners were from southern il.
there was a tavern on the corner that would cash your paycheck, so we all spent too much time and money there. mostly country juke box. the big hit at the time was- you can park your shoes under my bed. pretty sure i sang that on a couple payday nights.
but mostly is was my ex, whose record collection when he moved in w me contained red headed stranger and will the circle be unbroken.
got totally hooked when i heard cash's american recordings.
more roots than country fan. but these ladies are such classic country and proud of it that ya gotta love it.

(73,419 posts)there's others. but it's still hard. she's not wrong that country doesnt look like them. but it's been trending that way for a while.
seems like a door buster, tho. they kicked that so hard, i dont think it'll close again.

(10,030 posts)he came out way back in the sixties. As far as I know there hasn't been a major Black country star since.

(73,419 posts)i think one of them tweeted at them.
you're not wrong. nashville sucks. the best country is from ppl who either got kicked out or were never let in in the 1st place.
