Long night of storms here. Nearly continuous lightning-

Last edited Tue Jul 26, 2022, 08:18 AM - Edit history (1)

Since midnight.

My vicious pitbull has been "protecting" my wife and I from between the 2 of us on the bed. She's been at it for several hours.

Just got an alert that all roads into our town are flooded.

Yippee

So, how's your day going?

ETA - Flooding throughout the region but so far, our power is stable.

The old record in my county for rain in 1 day was 7.2 inches. beat that by 630AM - Still raining and we've had about 8 inches of rain since midnight.

We could get up to 2" more by 1000AM.

If you live in eastern Missouri or southern Illinois, stay home if you can

protected me from under the glass topped coffee table, where she could keep an eye on the flashing sky at a distance from the window. Each flash got a full alert stare and a low growl.

But when the thunder got closer, she took shelter behind the couch and left me to fend for myself.

I'm in Northeastern New York and we've also been hit with constant storms accompanied by lightning strikes. And here in the Adirondacks, that also means that trees and branches come down. Driving home can be an obstacle course. At least we haven't lost power - yet.
