I wonder if the drone eventually melted?

(3,414 posts)Credit: Bjorn Steinbekk. That name sounds Icelandic. Also, the magma being erupted appears to be basalt, with its low viscosity and fluid (non-explosive) eruption characteristics. Iceland sits atop a spreading center for the Mid-Atlantic ridge, where basalt-composition magma is erupted and added to the oceanic plates on either side of the ridge. Hawaii is also a site where basalt is erupted, although the islands sit on the oceanic plate above a hot spot in the earth's mantle. Different geologic settings, but similar lava types.

(34,137 posts)Back when the new volcano was erupting a couple of years ago there was someone who kept sending drones over the main cone and various vents. He lost a few, but the shots were amazing.
Here is Bjorn's website with a bunch of videos of Icelandic volcanos: https://www.steinbekk.com/
Most of my adult years have been about discovering, create new ventures, and taking risks, in short, to be an entrepreneur. I started early, being a promoter and hosting rave parties before holding various jobs such as a radio DJ, a fisherman and a construction worker.
I got back into the entertainment business by promoting multiple artists such as Coldplay, Fugees, Rammstein, Foo Fighters and many others from 1997 to 2004. I launched a TV station in Sweden in 2004 and then moved to Miami in 2007 and raised $10 million to build the first energy-efficient luxury home on South Beach. On my return to Iceland in 2011, I went back to being a promoter and launched the Sonar music festival in Iceland and then in Stockholm and Copenhagen and ran that business until 2016. Since 2017 I have been in content creation and marketing consultant for various companies in tourism in Iceland and abroad.
A few years back, I decided to seek more clarity, a simpler life, and more tranquillity in mind and body. Following that change, I found myself in the position to need drone material, so I just bought a drone and started experimenting. In 2021 the hard work paid off when my videos from the volcano eruption in Iceland went viral. More than 250 million people have seen my work, including more than 20 million on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Instagram.
