Damn I miss Linda Ronstadt

If anybody "out there" knows her, her family, or her friends please tell her she is loved, she
gave me and others so much joy, and I hope she gets to enjoy "things".

What a voice. Right up there with Ella Fitzgerald.

2. She still sings w/family, but has a type of "Parkinson's" of the vocal cords. In a

documentary she expressed how frustrating it was.

I was a young lady when she was with the Stone Ponys. Her 1967 song "Different Drum", sung with her powerful female voice and with a powerful message about choices was a great influence on me.

Blue Bayou vacals are amazing. I'm so sorry for the illness which stole her crystal clear voice. And the first Nelson Riddle album, What's New, was fabulous.

5. Last night

Linda hosted a show on the Sirius Sinatra channel. She played many of her favorite songs, both her own and artists she admires, like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. There was even a duet she had recorded with Sinatra. It was a delightful program with wonderful music, and the background Linda provided for each artist or song was fascinating. She's my all-time favorite singer.

6. Tucson to name music hall for native daughter Linda Ronstadt

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Tucson Music Hall will be renamed in honor of Linda Ronstadt, a southern Arizona native who went on to become a Grammy-winning superstar, Mayor Regina Romero announced Friday.

One of the top performers of the 1970s and a popular singer well into the 21st century, Ronstadt collected nearly a dozen Grammys in such categories as country, pop, Latin and children’s music. She stopped singing in 2009 when Parkinson's disease robbed her of her singing voice.

“Linda Ronstadt is a beloved daughter of Tucson. It is time to honor her legacy and her ability to tell the story of our culture through music,” Romero said in a statement.

Ronstadt arrived on the music scene in 1967 as the lead singer of the Stone Poneys, a country-folk trio that featured two of her friends from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She later found success as a solo artist in eclectic genres ranging from rock to Mexican ranchera.
