If anybody "out there" knows her, her family, or her friends please tell her she is loved, she
gave me and others so much joy, and I hope she gets to enjoy "things".
What a voice. Right up there with Ella Fitzgerald.

I was a young lady when she was with the Stone Ponys. Her 1967 song "Different Drum", sung with her powerful female voice and with a powerful message about choices was a great influence on me.

(77 posts)Linda hosted a show on the Sirius Sinatra channel. She played many of her favorite songs, both her own and artists she admires, like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. There was even a duet she had recorded with Sinatra. It was a delightful program with wonderful music, and the background Linda provided for each artist or song was fascinating. She's my all-time favorite singer.

(34,159 posts)One of the top performers of the 1970s and a popular singer well into the 21st century, Ronstadt collected nearly a dozen Grammys in such categories as country, pop, Latin and childrens music. She stopped singing in 2009 when Parkinson's disease robbed her of her singing voice.
Linda Ronstadt is a beloved daughter of Tucson. It is time to honor her legacy and her ability to tell the story of our culture through music, Romero said in a statement.
Ronstadt arrived on the music scene in 1967 as the lead singer of the Stone Poneys, a country-folk trio that featured two of her friends from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She later found success as a solo artist in eclectic genres ranging from rock to Mexican ranchera.
