Anyone ever had missing emails?

I have had several instances where I don't receive an email someone has sent me and vice versa. In each case, there is no notification that the email was unable to be delivered or that something else was the problem.

My ISP has been of little help as they simply send you an email to see if you received it and vice versa. If both emails are received, they call it OK, can't help you any further.

These missing emails have caused me a considerable amount of aggravation and was wondering how prevalent such a thing is. Please post if this has happened to you or you can suggest what else can be done about it.

TIA....

Check your Rules. The missing emails were not in Junk, or Spam -- but they still existed on the main server. The issue turned out to be an Outlook rule that was routing emails with certain terms in the subject line to a collapsed folder inside the main inbox. Once we removed the rule it stopped happening.

That's what I got.

and have gone through everything I can think of (I have no spam or trash filters set). Maybe someone with Thunderbird expertise can offer suggestions? Thunderbird offers no tech support so the only alternative is forums but I have tried that with no luck.

I dunno, maybe I should try Outlook or something...

and international email was wonky. Solved the problem by getting a gmail address. No more missing email.

rather than downloading to an email program. If they are missing on the server, then try sending emails to yourself using a new free address (gmail etc.). That way you have proof that it is the ISP.
On my ISP, within the last year, I received no emails for over a week because my email program kept telling me that my address did not exist. After multiple calls to customer service, resets of my router and three written complaints, they finally admitted that they had replaced their server and were having problems. Three days later, I finally had access.

but no cigar. And Telus (my ISP) can't get access to Gmail's email logs (so the tech tells me) so they cannot tell if the email from Telus even reached the Gmail servers.

Insurer might have left the state, so policy was automatically dropped(?) when the outfit didn't get a payment. I did inquire, but never got a response, further billing notices, cancellation notice, nor any other notifications about it. DH had it happen as well; again, a paperless bill invoice notification for healthcare policy. Be careful if you set paperless billing notifications via email up by voice or keyboard - be sure a zero (0) vs. isn't spoken or typed as a letter "O." and be sure to read and proofread all provided information back correctly. Didn't get a non-delivery notice either, and provider cancelled the whole policy. Supervisor refused to renew the policy in this case.

Also, I'd change email provider password. Then, too, perhaps, email servers have stopped searching for typo'd email without the premium version?

Sorry, this probably didn't help much. Hope you got stuff straightened out.

I'll know I read the email.
It's gone.
It's not in Trash.
It's not anywhere.

I search for the sender's address.
I search for some phrase or word I know is in there.
I search the date it arrived.

But it's gone.

I have had this happen several times. And there's nothing wrong with it that would make the ISP or Google delete it-- no porn, cussing, threats.

Frustrating.
I have no solution, but at least I know I'm not crazy-- it's really happening.

I never get the emails to read in the first place. They seem to disappear in cyber space somewhere never to be found.

My problems began a few years ago when my Telus ISP migrated their email servers to Gmail. Now when a friend sends email from his Telus account to one of my Gmail accounts, I don't receive it and he gets no indication that the message was not delivered. The same happens when I send a message from one of my Gmail accounts to his Telus account. I have also missed emails from another source but that issue is intermittent. My aforementioned friend and I however can send/receive emails with no issues if we go Telus account to Telus account.

In response to other replies here, I have also checked my Gmail directly (via a browser) and the emails are not there either. I also have no spam filters set or any other filter that might remove them.

ISTR reading somewhere that some email routers will reject email from other ISPs it does not trust for some reason. So, missing emails may be related to the particular routing your emails go through on its way for delivery(?).
