14. I was basically playing hard mode...

... when I started too, always trying to use the previous revealed hints in subsequent guesses.

A couple losses that resulted from single-letter multiple choice scenarios put an end to that policy for me.

As a recent example, with TAUNT as the answer and my only revelation was that the word ended with AUNT, I still had six possible answers to choose from: DAUNT, GAUNT, HAUNT, JAUNT, TAUNT and VAUNT.

Instead of trying to go through them one at a time, and hoping for a lucky guess of the first letter, I chose TOUGH instead -- thereby checking for GAUNT, HAUNT and TAUNT. That revealed the answer started with a T, so obviously my next guess was the correct TAUNT. (If TOUGH didn't reveal the answer, my next word would've been JIVED to check for DAUNT, JAUNT and VAUNT.)

Hard mode would've prevented me from even guessing TOUGH.
