... while his entire body weight is suspended on them. Maybe he is just too young to understand the mechanics and logistics of it all,.. to be able to get free by retracting his claws out of the cushion.

Also too he might be having so much damn fun swinging wildly back and forth - pulling back his claws would only spoil all his fun.

Cats do such odd things. Especially when they are just young little fluff-balls.
