(23,099 posts)Our old dog Butch got put in the garage at night and he did not love it at all. He started limping when we'd call him to the garage door and he would put on this pathetic expression. So I;d pet him, tell him it would be ok, then he'd start moving again and often forget which leg he was limping on and choose a different one. We'd laugh and he'd give us a great big smile and then out the door he'd go with zero limp.
.
He was a great dog.

(21,448 posts)hated going outdoors in winter.
One really cold day he limped badly in the yard so I carried him up the porch steps and indoors to check his paws and legs. The minute that I set him down, he walked just fine, began horsing around with our border collie.

(12,423 posts)He once sprained his right front leg zooming around the house (Shelties!) and I rushed him to the vet and they said it was just a sprain and he just needed rest. Of course there were hugs and kisses galore to help him heal. A few days later, I came home to the garbage tossed all over the kitchen floor with Andy sitting there holding up his right paw and giving me his pathetic look, and gosh, I just couldn't get mad. A week later, I came home to the same scene, except he was holding up his left paw and I shouted, "You idiot! That's the wrong paw!" So he put his left paw down and raised the right one. Again, I just couldn't be mad for all the laughing.
