Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI lost my 11 week old male kitten yesterday.
The events were shocking. I got a brother and sister kitten pair from a feral mother about 4 days ago. The lady steered us toward those two.
So yesterday at the SPCA to get the kittens ready for a long life, the vet's assistant comes out with a big grin on her face. She said, "Congratulations, it's a girl!" Nobody, including the cat lady, even bothered to check. All is fine now except we have to switch names.

I recall sexing my adopted barn cat's kittens (we kept them all) I was about 15? or so? So not really that experienced, and it was at least 10 years before the internet became a useful thing.
There was a neutered cat that my parents thought was a female.... a stray they fed for years.

We named it Elliot Ness because "Untouchable"
Cat was returned to us as a spayed female. SO we changed her name to Ellie.
She is still untouchable, but she is madly in love with our geriatric cat. He is very sweet to her.
