The thermometer on my patio says 116 degrees.

Fortunately it's not accurate. Feels more like high 80s today.

1. Air Quality in Seattle is 217

which is considered "very unhealthy." None of this is normal.

6. It's like the old Three Stooges joke:

What does your watch say? Tick...tick...tick...

5. We did actually see these kinds of temperatures

during a heat wave several weeks ago. This is in Northern California about 100 miles above San Francisco. Triple digits are not uncommon in the summer. Above 110 is very unusual, especially in mid september.

7. A perfect afternoon in Central Maine. Low 60's. no humidty, no wind.

A relatively cloudless sky with a glorious sunset. I'm loving the not-time change.

9. Lucky you, in Pittsburgh it was 42.

And that was the high for the day.
