It was at the Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh I will not add anything else, just say we had one hell of a time going down the Parkway East and Squirrel Hill Tunnel to get home.

Also featured James Cotton Blues Band and a local Hippie band called Country Weather. (not a country music band)

Then a month later I saw The Who's first farewell tour - opening acts were Hooters, Santana, and the only band that mattered, The Clash.

I remember seeing CSN along with Joni at Roosevelt Raceway. That show will always be in my mind; just before the concert started, it was announce that Agnew had pardoned Nixon.
That could have gotten ugly, but I think everyone was already too high to riot.

(5,903 posts)I had a ticket for the city's "Summer Concert" series to see Blood, Sweat, and Tears and The Brooklyn Bridge. One of the band members got caught with a joint coming through the Canadian border a few days before, so the concert was canceled (bad influence on the city's youth, you know!), and they made the ticket good for any of the rest of the series.
This was in June of 1969. James Brown was in top form, and it was an experience to be remembered.

Was at two different boarding schools near San Francisco for most of high school, far from parental control, from Fall 66 to January 71. At least twice a month weekends were built around Fillmore West or Winterland. Later lived in Berkeley intermittently 73-87 for a BS, MBA, and working in a Fed research lab.
Lots of music. Still am a rocker but with youtube as old, ill health, and hide in mountains of my childhood. Saw Samantha Fish in 2018 and again in 2019, both times at Tahoe.

He went to the piano and started playing with the hat on the entire concert. It was in, I think 74. ONe think I do remember is that we we were in the nose bleed section of the stadium. When Elton played Saturday Night ; everyone got up and were jumping up and down. I was afraid the whole thing would collapse.

Standing in line for an hour to get in we got bored and sold our tix for less than our parents paid for them but went to see the Michael Keaton "Batman" instead with the money. Got home later and told M&D how great the Stryper concert was (lied).
My actual first concert I saw in person was at Liberty Lunch in Austin, we saw Soundgarden later that same year.

It was in a smallish venue in Seattle. After they finished there was dead silence, then suddenly the people in the back of the auditorium jumped up and started cheering. Those of us in the front were too stunned to even move. We started finding ourselves again and began clapping and at last joined the cheering. It was like going into another universe and we had a ways to get back!

Great show!!!
Then saw The Beatles at Shea a month+ later!
I once made 2 lists 1) each concert I saw 2) each band or performer I saw... I remember I had over 200 in each list.
But I lost it.
The Who, Bruce, Patti Smith Group, U2 are the bands I've seen close to 20 times. (Including Tommy at The Filmore East, and The WN Tour with performing"Pure and Easy" at Forrest Hills Stadium)
Saw some other very famous '60's performers Janis, Jimmie a few more at big Anti Vietnam War fundraising Concerts.
Oh, and the night C,S N & Y in NJ announced Nixon had resigned during the show. People were carrying radios with them! Us, too! 😄 Happy Bedlam erupted!
Saw many of the Original CBGB'S Bands, and a few that played there from other places at either that club ('76, '77) or in theater sizes before they got bigger.
Covid blew the occasional concerts I still went to by sitting outside of open air places in Late Spring to early Fall.
Hoping next Summer I'll catch a few. 🎵🎶🎸🎤🧡👍🏻
