So a couple of miles on a busy street coming home, always checking out the bumperstickers. Mine are a discreet Vietnam/Navy on one side and a "Vote Democratic" on the other - get it, irritates the wingnuts but they don't DARE bash my Vietnam glass. So a large (but not monster) white pickup had been behind me (my stickers visible) but then sped up alongside, then moved to stop at the light in front of me and had two small ones on the actual bumper, both similarly colored with something about Marines in longish text. I inched up to be able to read them at a stop. One said, "My grandsonS are Marines." Fine. The other one said, "Terrorists are judged by God. Marines arrange the meeting." Uh, O.K., bit of a reddish flag hoisting in my Detector. Then the clincher, saw there was another one sort of less visible, white on white: "TRUMP 2020". There it was.
So it was a red flag to me, and I longed to get to a stop in front, although the pickup was bigger and more powerful, but alors, there was a long stretch and the pickup had slowed down enough for me to move to the side lane and pass and end up in front for the next stop. There were two more stops that my stickers were in front and the pickup made no attempt to pass me.
A small, arguably immature enterprise. And I want to be clear that I've never played the silly game of Marines vs Navy or against any other branch. But then I've known myself to carry out meaningless personal/private boycotts (The Family Circus). Although in this gun culture when "Constitutional carry" can be a factor combined with road rage, well...
