(23,694 posts)I have vague memories of seeing those cartoons. I probably did not even see them until maybe 1954. I was 6.
Edited to add: there are some Crusader Rabbit cartoons on You Tube. I decided I should look since I found a treasure trove of old cartoons a couple of months ago. At the time I did not think about Crusader Rabbit

(38,726 posts)As a kid, I went to cartoon shows. I felt for poor Wiley E., because he never caught RR.
I must add this: I met Chuck Jones once (he directed Road Runner & Wiley toons) got his autograph. Did NOT
tell him how much I loved Wiley E. Looking back, I certainly should have. But that was a long time ago.
At least I met him, and that says a lot.

Felix the Cat is widely considered the world's first animated film star. He first appeared as 'Master Tom' in an animated short titled Feline Follies, released by Paramount Studios on 9 November 1919, a full nine years before Mickey Mouse's debut in Disney's Steamboat Willie (1928).

like a cameo. but I don't remember him having his own show, but I could be wrong. Maybe a poster can help us out. He usually appeared with Bugs and Daffy. Oh by the way, when I first met my husband it had a sticker but on by the car company. It was Taz spinning around in the cyclone of dust. The name of the car--Duster. I forget what company made it.

(60,612 posts)runny around. My cousins watched it and had the figures made out of very heavy rubber. You could twist them but they wouldn't stay. I was fascinated by the technique they used. In fact Rudolph was made with this type of animation.

Rudolf - was that the first stop motion animation for that story? I remember it from TV.
debm55
(60,612 posts)my students. It makes the motions not as following as a filmed cartoon would be.
electric_blue68
(26,856 posts)I did a few pushing cut paper around to reveal otger images, or text.
But you said
"the figures made out of very heavy rubber. You could twist them but they wouldn't stay".
Mad me think if you twisted it for a single shot position it wouldn't stay long enough to take it.
Then there was the time I drew on 800 blank index cards for about a 3 min animation. 🥰
debm55
(60,612 posts)in the arcade, where for a penny, you could turn the handle and watch a movie, I slowed it down and saw that it only appeared to move as the reel turned and there were individual pictures, just slightly different. Went home and tried it. The faster you moved the crank, the more the people appeared to move. There were some naughty ones mixed in next to the cartoons. I didn't use 800 pieces of paper. I believe the first one was of a horse running. There is a name for it, but off hand I can't remember.
