* All my 75 years, I only knew: TY-gris (Euphrates). Now YouTube Brit says: TIGG-ris.
* Right now, Cyrano de Bergerac, I only knew SIRR-a-no: The Brit just said, sirr-RA-no.

Edit: Reminds me of some people that I've encountered in the Southern USA, but that kind of "mumbling" is very unusual there too.

(21,558 posts)Cleaned up the spelling a bit by getting rid of the unnecessary "u" in several words. Established more consistent pronunciation patterns regarding which syllable gets accented. And we pronounce whole words instead of dropping syllables. Got rid of certain titles by eliminating the positions, like "duke," "duchess," "king," "queen," etc.
