We want to play some new games for the holidays this year.
What are some of your favorite games?
I guess it doesn't have to be a board game.
Thanks!

(62,455 posts)everyone plays the card drawn. The card has four numbers that by using addition, multiplication or division equals 24. Great for kids over 8 up to adult.

(57,073 posts)The object of the game is to place all your tiles on the table as part of a set. Once someone does that, that person can proclaim "Rummikub." The losers add up the value of the tiles they're still holding on their racks, and that score is written as a negative number.Feb 17, 2021

(25,471 posts)the board and back to home base. For a large crowd there is Pictionary, Trival Pursuit, and charades. Have fun.
Your list is our usual, except for the pop up dice game. Those are fun, but we are going to try some new ones.

(25,471 posts)game try this.
1. Get a large sheet of paper and a maker and pen.
2. Divide up into two teams.
3 Draw 6 dots across leaving about 3 inches apart, and 6 dots down leaving 3 inches apart.
4. First player up draws a line connecting the dots-side to side, or up and down. Once line is drawn, the next team draws a line.Players keep doing this while trying to block the other team from building a box, while they try building a box
5 You may use a line drawn to form your box, but watch out as it may be helping the other team build their box
6. Once the box is built, the team puts their team name in the box and gets another turn. Everytime a box is built, the team gets another turn . If a bpx isn't built, play turns to other team.
7. When there are no more boxes to build, count the number of boxes won by each time. High number wins.
I played this with my kids at school. We called it Outwit and Outsmart. You can vary the number of dots--the more dots the longer it takes to play. You can test it out with you and a friend on a piece of copypaper, Remember no diagonal lines. You can also vary the space between the dots.

(2,203 posts)Fun game to have everyone make up definitions of words that are predominantly weird words most have never heard of before. Rules keep the game lively, and you can imagine it can get super hilarious!

(2,203 posts)Max 4 player, though I suppose you could team up. Each player gets an identical set of little square puzzle pieces in various configurations. There's rules about how to lay them on the board, The goal being the one to end the game with zero puzzle pieces remaining, but the fun comes in knowing those rules to block others from making their progress in the game. lots of fun!

(2,203 posts)This is our new favorite. It's a crazy card game that involves betting and a few extra cards beyond a normal deck. It's a little confusing to learn at the beginning but once you get it people have a total riot and it can last quite a long time.

(22,831 posts)A party game combining luck, knowledge, and group therapy best describes Therapy: The Second Session. Strange but fun. The goal is to be the first player to move your token (shaped like a therapist's couch) across the finish line. You do so by rolling the dice, answering questions about each stage of life, and escaping "all-better" from therapy with another player. Can an opponent correctly guess your answer to a therapist's question? Can you correctly analyze the inkblots (answering what most people think when they see that blot)? What about your knowledge about the age at which women are most sentimental (age 60), combined with your ability to guess (declare) that your friend holds a grudge? The right answer could get you out of the shrink's office fast. Isn't that always the goal? In the process, you'll learn surprising facts about people in general and your friends in particular. --Richard Farr
