One of DU's beloved needs some help. SalmonChantedEvening has come across ....(Donations disabled)

For those of you who would like to have donated but were unable to before the donation window closed, please see this thread from SCE and know that I and Soteric truly appreciate your concern and sentiment. It has not gone unnoticed.

The author of the weekly “Your Sunday LOLCats Thread”, DU’er SalmonChantedEvening could use some help.

A confluence of factors has left our SCE in a financial bind and he is in dire need of an infusion of funds.

 SCE is one of the kindest, gentlest, most caring, soft spoken and funniest members of this board, and his weekly Sunday morning thread has become an institution on DU. He has made it known to a few friends on FaceBook that his finances have taken a serious hit as of late.

This kind and humble man was reluctant to even reach out to you folks, but another friend and I convinced him that the good people of Democratic Underground are typically a generous lot, and that there is no shame in asking for a little help when one needs it.

And to those who simply cannot help out right now, please don't feel bad. I am honestly grateful that I can help people. I have a friend on FB with major health problems, and has asked for help several times. I can't imagine having those health issues, and I'm glad I can help her.

I have been relatively poor at various times in the past, so I know what it's like. I have more than once scrounged for change so I could buy something to fix for a meal. Or getting a free meal had a very positive impact on my cash flow. These days I have an adequate income. I live modestly, and occasionally help out those who need help.

Again, I want to say thank you for letting us know SCE needs help. And I hope that anytime anyone here learns of someone else who needs help, lets us know.

I can’t recall how many times I get to work way too early on Sunday and am so excited to see the LOLCats when I hit the restroom for my morning business. I hate that I have to work Sunday mornings, but SCE and the LOLZ makes me happy.

Also, I always linger over the hand drawn title pic. I love the German cap on the cat and his Lolzing at zee doggies. Love it all. Open up the donation and I’ll happily donate my lunch money for a week. If you can make me happy and look forward to a weekly gesture without asking for anything in return, then I can have PB and Js or ramen soup for lunch for a week and you can have my lunch indulgence cash. No prob at all!

I care about you SalmonCE and hope things are looking up!!!! I have had a busy week with my school age kid and I wish I’d gotten on here last night instead of this morning. I would like to second (third? millionth?) the motion that the donation site be reopened. I don’t have a lot to give but I’d like to have the joy of knowing that at least you got to have a yummy sammich or coffee and a pastry on me or to get that for someone you love. it's been disabled. Shit! I'm so poor I can't even afford to pay attention so I bookmarked it so I could donate after I got paid today. I literally love enjoying SCE's Sunday LOL Cats with my coffee. It's such a weekly piece of joy that I share with so many other DU'ers.

I feel horrible. Is there a chance it will be enabled again? Anyway, I hope he's doing ok. Merry Christmas to all!
