My cat has been stalking a mouse all morning.
It just climbed the Christmas tree. I think we could be in real trouble here.

1. My cat, Patches, is a hell of a good mouser.
He lived outside for a good portion of the first year of his life. He’s big and athletic his paws are about as big as my hands. I’ve seen him catch and dispatch a mouse in elegant in fashion. Trouble is he’s so good mice won’t come in here anymore and he gets bored. Lots of luck with that Christmas tree

2. I should decorate the cat tree
Because no traditional Christmas tree would stand a chance with my 4 kitcats.

5. Hey, thanks. You just gave me an idea.
I have a some leftover ornaments after finishing the tree. (Always happens. I've accumulated a lot of them.)
So, a few of them are of wooden or metal. In other words, unbreakable. I think I'll make some switches so that the unbreakable ones are available to decorate Ember's cat tree. If she has those to play with, she might leave the Christmas tree alone. She's fairly good about the tree most of the time. But she gets moments when she can't resist swatting at something on it. Does no good to confine ornaments to upper branches. She can stretch pretty far. Also, if they are too high up and she spots one that looks like a kitty soccer ball to her, she will leap up to get it, causing more damage than if I give her some low hanging "safe" ones to swat. |

3. I'd catch the mouse to avert disaster
Of course, I previously had a pet mouse.
