(1,766 posts)Danny Thomas personally recruited my mom to be among the original nursing staff at St Jude's. She had to turn him down because she had just gotten married to my useless dad, and that loser didn't want to move to Memphis.

(18,375 posts)... there were many women on the tube in the mid-late sixties I was strongly attracted to, but there were a couple that left me cold for some reason. Since I knew none of them, and they were all just characters on the TV, it's weird to me that some didn't appeal.

(17,384 posts)In my case, my 19 year old cousin lived with us for a year while they built a new house, probably when I was about six. She had long dark hair, and my course was set, lol.
malthaussen
(18,375 posts)... although I do have a definite aesthetic preference, I have been strongly attracted to a few different types. I'm also perverse, because some of the biggest sex symbols of history do nothing for me at all, but I do like others, maybe in part due to the character portrayed. For example, while I only watched a couple of episodes of "Charlie's Angels," Farrah bored me, but I liked Kate Jackson quite a lot, but after Farrah was replaced by Cheryl Ladd, my interest was piqued. Definitely, there is no accounting for taste, I've spent many an idle time trying to figure out why one person leaves me hot, and another cold, even if she might be aesthetically better set up.

When I was around 11, I became a George Harrison fan.
As an older teen, I grew to appreciate John Lennon as a songwriter and musician.
The only one I never crushed on was Paul. I've learned to appreciate him over the years as a songwriter, but he's never been my Beatles crush. Not long after that, I added Carol Wayne to the list based on her appearance in an episode of "Bewitched."

In the 1970s (besides Farrah Fawcett, of course), I discovered Elaine Joyce due to her numerous game show appearances.

Moving along to the 1980s, my first celebrity crush in that decade was Teri Copley.

Lest you think you've discovered a pattern among my responses, 1980s Celebrity Crush #2 was Mary Page Keller. I found it incredibly difficult to find a pic of her that doesn't also include her husband, so he's in this one as well.

From the 1990s on I've had various celebrity crushes, such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Charisma Carpenter, Katherine Heigl, Alexandra Paul, and Lauren Graham. My current celebrity crush:

A few years later I was more interested in secret agents and actors who played them. Sean Connery. Michael Caine. David McCallum. Patrick McGoohan.
Other actors - Robert Redford. Paul Newman. (Yeah, I went to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid several times in theaters. Besides having two beautiful men to watch, it had incredible screenwriting by William Goldman, who also wrote All The President's Men and The Princess Bride...and I appreciate good writing.) Peter O'Toole. Richard Burton. Steve McQueen.
I thought Paul McCartney was cute, and also thought he was the most talented Beatle, but I can't say I had a crush on him.
I'm trying to think of any singer or rock star I had a crush on. I did notice the guys who were good-looking.
