No coffee. Just have to wait it out I guess.

(129,736 posts)Just got an email telling me the power should be back on in another hour or so. Then I have to deal with the snow.

(100,990 posts)I hope that is resolved by now! It's always dicey going without power in the winter.

(60,847 posts)Re the lack of coffee - I don't know if you need caffeine to wake up fully, as I often do, but since I don't like having coffee before breakfast, I discovered years ago that a fragment of a caffeine tablet, taken with water as soon as I wake up, helps me wake up faster and avoid any headache I might get if I skip caffeine completely. I also found out, since No-Doz is overpriced and the packages I find most often are small, that Walmart sells Jet-Alert caffeine tablets, 90 tablets 200 mg each, for only a few dollars, less than much smaller packages of No-Doz or Vivarin. I take a quarter to a third of a tablet first thing in the morning, or if I have a headache, especially a migraine. I still like coffee, but I don't always have time for it, and it's the caffeine I need (though not 200 mg at a time).

(129,736 posts)while reading the newspaper (couldn't find that this morning; if it came at all it's buried in the snow) or doomscrolling on my laptop. It's my necessary ritual; caffeine tablets wouldn't do the job. If I just want a caffeine rush, I'll go for chocolate-covered espresso beans.
