My dental pain no longer rages. I wonder what my dentist did...

Since I am near the end of my antibiotic pills my guess is that the infection is gone. And I can chew without fearing that howling pain I had.

Please, lord or lordess, let this be the end of it!

My dentist is a real mensch. He will enter heaven one day for his good works on earth!

But that and being seen (and getting the cephalexin, 500 mg, 3x a day) was pretty much it. His receptionist waved me away when I asked if there was a charge for the visit.

I always have loved this guy since he took care of my needed extraction on Jan. 6 two years ago.

I'm going back for a needed crown and a cleaning soon..

Say America has this BIG LUMP down on our Florida bicuspid and IF that could be extracted, it's poison wouldn't keep spreading.

BUT it would take a HUGE dental instrument to perform that surgery and probably a Huey Chopper and a few Marines for back up.

LOL

Silly.

Hope I gave you a smile.

3. There's something wrong with the tooth....

that became infected. Don't just stop treatment now because the pain is gone, because if you don't take care of the underlying problem the infection will probably return.

I dislike dentists (there's something suspicious about someone who wants to mess around in other peoples' mouths) but neglecting dental health is worse.

Of course if insurance companies included dental care in their coverage there wouldn't be so many people with dental problems. 🙄 Like your teeth aren't part of your body?

The same goes for eye care. It's prohibitively expensive for many people to cover dental costs and eye care. Something should be done about that, but politicians have sold their souls to the insurance lobby.

he immediately phoned in the painkiller and the antibiotic to my pharmacy. It was a day and a half before I got it because my pharmacy in Stop and Shop closed early on NY Eve and was closed all NY day.

I have finished the antibiotic, so I am not stopping treatment. I'm doing my part, don't worry!

I let a toothache go once. I was back at the dentist 6 months later having a root canal.

Ever since, even with my dislike of dentists, I'm religious about my dental checkups. 😉

9. As I age, I become a "frequent flyer" at my dentist's office.

Because of my insurance benefits, I am having a crown put on this year, instead of last year when it became evident I needed one. Also, I look forward to my cleanings because as I age my teeth get stains I can't get off with a toothbrush. I hate the stains and look forward to a clean set of teeth. Anything is better than nothing.

I learned the best way to floss and brush so I spend more time with that every day. I figure it's an investment well worth it!

6. Maybe, maybe not now after antibiotics.

Sounds like a possible abscess. Those are often easily seen with a dental inspection.

He has extracted a tooth for her previously, but if not needed, and antibiotics resolved it, then problem solved.

Types of Treatment

1) Open up (incise) and drain the abscess. The dentist makes a small cut into the abscess, allowing the pus to drain out.
2) Do a root canal. This can help get rid of the infection and save your tooth.
3) Pull the affected tooth.
4) Prescribe antibiotics.

7. Maybe it's because politicians know full well that most people hate having to go to the dentist.

So if health insurance doesn't pay for it, well, then most folks hate going to the dentist anyway. Of course, it is part of your body! As for vision care, my insurance only covers exams, but has a limit on what it will pay and what frames I will get for my glasses. So either I pay more for the glasses that I like or I get so-so frames.

You would like my dentist. He's a great guy and a strong Dem.
