Our oven broke but the stove top still works.
I say well we we can just get a toaster oven.
She immediately says OK but I can't bake in a toaster oven.

(4,552 posts)It is the oven board because the clock doesn't even work.
They want 350 for the board and it is a 12 year old appliance.

(3,324 posts)In my experience the "fuse block" has been under the stove. I am not sure about a 12 year old stove but there would have to be an onboard breaker or fuse of some sort. I would think. I have rebuilt 2 stoves from the 50's era and ! from the 40's. So my experience ends there. However I am a near technician level repair man in general. I would check your element for breaks then remove it and if you know how check (without touching contact points for the presence of voltage at the element contacts. If you do not to how to use a tester then I would recommend putting in a service call. This can be dangerous if you uncomfortable with it.
Checking fuses however is an easier repair. Unplug stove first. Find and follow instructions under troubleshooting.
Good luck.

(3,324 posts)I am a dinosaur relative to "boards" in general so If I suspect a "board" issue, I replace it. One of the tells for me is a noticeable (with magnification) burnt area. on the board. This to include broken circuits on the board. Once again to do this sort of examination UNPLUG the UNIT!!!

(4,552 posts)The oven, timers and clock are all controlled by the board. The board is down and I find no fuse. The only question I had was could it be the touch pad. But the clock is off and that is part of the board.
I don't do any thing until I check with the wire tic. The board is 350 and the unit is 12 years old.
Plus my wife has never liked that oven. It is 25 degrees off. New oven comes on Wednesday.
