Squeeeeeeee alert - an endangered Przewalski's horse just born at San Diego Zoo (twitter clip)

Hold your horses, we've got exciting news🐴 SDZWA recently welcomed an endangered Przewalski’s horse, the first P-horse foal born at the Park since 2014. This bouncy bundle of joy is settling in well with the herd & is critical to conserving the genetic diversity of the species.

The best part is at the beginning, where the foal is running around on those long, long legs. Squee for sure!

P.S. People who are opposed to zoos and think they should all disappear annoy me greatly! Not all zoos are created equal, and zoos like this one are working really hard to ensure the continued survival of endangered species and conserve their genetic diversity. San Diego is one of the world's leading zoos and they do amazing work, way beyond merely exhibiting animals so people can see them.

Zoos vary widely in care and commitment. And it tends to be the awful ones we hear about because that's more sensational. I was stationed oin San Diego as a second lieutenant. and I have very fiond mand memories of the Zoo (including one of a peacock acting as my tour guide.)

They are so beautiful. That little foal has the neatest fuzzy coat. Mom is a lovely too. Thank you, for posting that fun video, IcyPeas.

Yeah, beautifully sharp video. Ty!

I saw these horses a bazillion years ago at mostly outdoors game farm.in the Catskills Mountain of NYS as a kid

I think I remember because of the unusual name, and maybe the short, spikey black mane.

They are really endangered--the last of the actual wild horses. They are different genetically from regular horses (or donkeys), and cannot be tamed.

Our mustangs are descended from horses that escaped, probably from the early Spanish.

This is great news! Thanks for posting.

And your name and signature line suggests you know a thing or 2 about horses.

Interesting that they can't be tamed. They really are different then.
