1. There are...
Tons of vaping devices, most are in some kind of pen form. These pens are battery operated. The range in price from maybe $15 to I don;t know what. There are also resins, go to a marijuana dispensary, they should be able to tell you about these things, most carry some line of devices.
I tried this early on and decided to discontinue and only smoke or consume edibles. I didn't like the lung congestion it caused, different from smoking, for me at least. Also the oil burns and gets nasty in the vials, I just didn't have a good experience wit them and the pandemic made me decide I would never use them again. Just sayin'. I also live in a "legal" state so I have no major concern about the smell of the smoke, outdoors, to alert anyone to my smoking... nobody cares. |

14. Same for me
Vaping made me feel like I was sucking in tiny bits of metal. The coughing was much more intense than taking a hit off a pipe, which I rarely do these days anyway. Edibles are the best way to go.

15. I didn't like...
The way my lungs felt, I still sing on occasion and I was finding I had less air capacity available. I've been smoking it all my life and I seem to know my limit before the breathing apparatus gets in trouble. I use it for PTSD, I like the buzz, it distracts me away from the darker regions of my mind. Part of the relief, these days, is knowing that it's is legal and as readily available as any Rx.

16. Same for me on these points as well
Whne I first tried a vape pen I was living in the mountains and when the smoke from the fires combined with the vape, I was hacking for three days. I didn't smoke pot for a long time but when I restarted after moving to a legal state it caught up with my lungs after awhile. Now it's wonderful edibles except for an occassional buzz from a one-hitter pipe. I still love the way smoking makes me feel, the scent, everything. It is a relief as you state, that it's legal, but I still kinda get a kick like I did when I was young that I was being an outlaw.
And most of all, as with you, it changes my mindset from one that can get dark into one that appreciates all the good elements of life and gives me a sense of well-being. It's also fun. ![]() |

2. Doja Cat says she has to cancel upcoming shows due to health issues caused by vaping
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/doja-cat-quit-vaping-tonsils-surgery-202734193.html
Singer Doja Cat has canceled a series of performances due to her health problems. On Friday, the "Say So" singer, 26, took to Twitter to share that she had to undergo "routine" surgery on her tonsils, which would force her to stop touring while she recovers from the procedure. Doja Cat, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, released the statement just a day after she sent out a flurry of tweets describing her throat issues in graphic detail. On Thursday evening, she spoke candidly about her addiction to vaping, and the problems it was causing for her throat and tonsils. “Dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil. i had an abscess in it. my whole throat is f***ed so i might have some bad news for yall coming soon,” she tweeted, alluding to her future cancellation of performances at Lollapalooza and beyond. |

3. make sure the oil cartidges are made with ceramic parts instead of metal
you can see through the glass exterior and oil whether it's ceramic or metal inside
the metal can leach something into the oil that is bad for you I use a standard (510 threaded) oil vape pen that cost $19 and recharges off my laptop ![]() most dispensaries will carry them, just ask edited to add: make sure the oil is labelled "solvent-free" |

4. I think you're better off getting a device called the "Volcano" which vaporizes
marihuana instead of vaping oil.

9. I have one that is roughly the size and shape of a 'penlight'
It requires frequent cleaning. Like almost after every use frequent.

11. Not at this time
Those devices are cool AF, but there are drawbacks. For one thing, they’re pricey. We’re talking hundreds of dollars for even the base model. Also, they aren’t easily portable. I like traveling light. Finally, I think it’s impractical for solo flights. It would be heartbreaking to fill a bag with valuable vapor, only to find you don’t want any more hits off it.
If I ever get incapacitated to the point that a caregiver has to squeeze the bag to deliver a hit, I probably wouldn’t complain. Until that time, I’ll stick to other methods. |

19. Get a dry herb vaporizer pen instead
Unlike the oil carts, a dry herb pen uses flower. They have three advantages over something like a Volcano: they’re a lot cheaper, they don’t use bags and they only hold enough weed for one person. There are two basic kinds: ones with temperature control and ones without. Temp control is nice because some weed needs to get hotter to vape properly, but it adds about fifty bucks to the price of the pen. Mine DOESN’T have temp control, and it works pretty well. You can save a little money by purchasing a 510-threaded dry herb cartridge and mounting it on a battery for nicotine vaping. Go that way and you get a temp-controlled pen for about the same price as a fixed-temp pen.
You will need the pen, a weed grinder and some weed. To use: cut a bud in half and grind it fine. It probably won’t hold more than that. Take the pen apart in preparation for packing. Next, before you put the weed in the chamber put the mouthpiece in your mouth and try to draw air through it. If it’s clogged you need to clean out the holes in the compactor plate, and you do so with a toothpick, pin or whatever you have. Once you’re getting air through the plate, pack weed into the chamber. Put the pen back together, push down on the mouthpiece to compact the weed against the heating coil, and turn it on. Push the “fire” button and hold it down while you watch the mouthpiece. When vapor starts to come out, stick it in your mouth and take a hit. When you’re finished with this session, take the pen apart, dump out the spent weed, and clean the coil and compactor plate with the little brush they give you. |

21. Not powder, but little pieces
If the chunks are about the size of cornmeal when you've finished grinding, they're good enough. Some people break up the bud with their fingers, but that coats them in resin. Grinding is much nicer. I bought a "Mendo Mulcher" for $20 last time I was in the Haight, and it works really well. They have little plastic ones that cost maybe $7.50, but the aluminum ones are better.
