As if day to day isn't enough to be stressed about, its like SOMETHING has to remind you how much more frustrated you can become.

Somewhere about high school read this paperback, book wasn't so great, but the title has never ever left me:
"Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up"

Robyn66 I offer one of the mantra's that have kept me "enduring": "I thank thee God for these little minor irritations...." unfortunately its usually followed by "The same day it rains canned hams."

we are taking bets now on what will shit the bed. I have to get the truck inspected and I am terrified it wont pass. That will be the next thing. I have NO idea where that money will come from. The vaccuum is also broken but hubby has jerry rigged it so it will work a bit. Oh well this too shall pass I guess.

That's why I'll NEVER set a microwave to start automatically at a later time. When they go, they go out with style.

And you haven't done anything to deserve what is happening with you, with your brother's health. I wish I could offer something more than keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, but I have no wise words. You must have faith that better days lie ahead.

Fortunately, I was home when it happened. I unplugged it, and went out and got a new one.

As for pissing off the universe, and not knowing what the hell you did to cause that, I know exactly what you mean. It's gone beyond 5 years of this shit for me. I managed to get a couple of short contract jobs to keep me going for a few more months. But, neither of them is paying what I expected at the start, and it is taking forever for the payments to come through. This second one will take me out of town for a week at a time. The people who I thought were going to watch my cat are all backing out at the last minute. And, my fucking garage door lift is acting up. No problem getting the door to go up. Getting it to go back down is a pain in the ass. I think the logic board needs replacing. Wish I could afford to have it fixed. At this point, I have pretty much resigned myself to the idea that things are not going to improve any time soon.

I'm sorry your microwave blew up, but if an appliance has to break down, at least it's more interesting if they go out in a blaze of glory.

I once had a TV catch fire while I was watching it. That was interesting, too.

... "microwave" ovens, but the snack bar at the range was the first time I had seen one.
.
Not having much cash with me, I got a hard-boiled egg (still in the shell) from the Horn
& Hardart Automat type of vending machine and stuck it in the oven to warm it up.
.
Don't remember how much longer that I opened the door to find that the egg had, well...
EGGSPLODED all over the inside.
.
Shut the door and left without looking back, whistling and unable to make eye contact
with anyone for quite some time.

to have lived a long time without a microwave and am sure we will be fine. I would like to actually see if we can eliminate it. The biggest thing I used it for was defrosting things when I forgot to put them out earlier in the day. It will be an interesting experament. So far, no one is crying over lack of a microwave!
