your house it can cause thousands of dollars of damage.

5. We have tons of woodpeckers here, living in an old growth converted oak forest.

They are always on my trees, tweeting and pecking. They don't need no stinking houses, they have everything they need in/on the trees. Yesterday there were 3 on the big trees near my deck at the same time, it was very cool.

6. Another Sonoma County story,

A neighbor had his septic line back up. When the clean-out was opened it was full of acorns. The woodpeckers had dropped them down the vent. I suggest screens to stop that happening.
