Anybody try and use these as burger buns? (Original Post) tornado34jh Feb 2023 OP
I guess they would work ok if you want a thin bun. They can be hard to split well though. bullimiami Feb 2023 #1
Toast them first. Split easy. cachukis Feb 2023 #2

You could use a cast iron grill or pan to toast (no oil needed) on the stovetop -- fierywoman Feb 2023 #4

My kitchen is small, so I don't have a lot of room there. I don't think my roommate has one either. If I did, I would consider trying it. I ended up just trying to cut it with a knife. I usually get sandwich thins or hamburger buns, but I thought this would be a cheaper one, plus I didn't get time to get the ones I normally get.

I have also seen pretzel bun burgers as well. I don't remember which restaurant had it, but I have seen it before.

I usually get hamburger buns or sandwich thins at Aldi's, but I didn't get time to get them. Plus, with food prices going up, I tried to look for something cheaper. They are good, but they can be harder to cut. Because pita bread has this sort of pocket in the middle, once you get there, it is fairly easy to cut the rest, but just getting the first cut can be tricky, especially since it is a very thin type of bread.

My apartment doesn't have a huge kitchen, and I am not really a huge fan of open electric coil stoves. Occasionally I do use the stove-top, but I would much rather prefer the closed ones.

So when you cut it, it can be tricky, sometimes I get lucky and get a cut that goes relatively straightforward, other times it cuts parts of it unevenly. I have a bread knife, but again, because it is super thin, it may get in the way. But then again, this is only my second time getting this type of bread. I had it when I was in Orlando for the holidays, but I couldn't figure out how to open it. Normally I get sandwich thins or hamburger buns, but I wasn't able to get them. These ones I got at Publix. Normally I go to Aldi's because it is less expensive.
