(3,379 posts)2001 SL1. Blue and beautiful. I was forced to give her up at end of 2020 by my apartment complex because I couldn't afford very minor repairs (new battery, new shoes) and inspection. She would have lasted me another 20 years. Those cars were built different, especially the ones prior to the GMC takeover.

(10,142 posts)Bought it used (1997 coupe) for my daughters first car. She drove it 6 years including 3 years of commuting to college 45 minutes each way. When she was expecting her oldest it was obvious that particular car is NOT car seat-friendly so she swapped it with my 2001 Corolla and I drove it another 5 years. Finally in 2014 it developed a transmission problem (didnt want to go into reverse), we figured we got our $$ worth and it went to junkyard heaven at 175k miles. Great car and fun to drive.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
