2 years sober

Quit cold turkey in the middle of the pandemic. I pretended to be sick and lay in bed sweating it out for a week. Tried some AA meetings but not really my thing. After a few weeks I stopped counting the days and after 6 months I stopped counting altogether. It was difficult but I really wanted to stop. Cravings are rare and mild now. My hygiene has improved dramatically. (Showers kill buzzes). No more diarrhea!

On the flip side my wife says I don't talk much anymore. I was always rather grim and quiet and booze loosened me up. But all the alcohol on earth couldn't drown my hellish upbringing. But forgiving my mother did .

Well, I really don't want to get into all the gory details I just wanted to write it down. The umpteenth time I attempted to stop seems to be working. So if you are struggling and fall don't punish yourself. Try again when the urge to quit arises. It may be the time that works.

Peace to all and I am oooot!

I will have 31 years sober if I make it past 18 February. That's the point. It's one day at a time. Stick with your program, it is worth it. Don't worry about slips. One day at a time. Good luck!

Valerie Bertinelli just shared that weight loss has been an unexpected side effect from giving up drinking last month.

On her TikTok account, Bertinelli posted a video walking and talking to the camera when she revealed her Dry January experiment, a popular movement where people give up drinking for the first month of the new year, had an unintended "side effect."

"So, here's a nice little side effect of Dry January," she said. "These jeans that I'm wearing were so tight a few months ago that I couldn't comfortably button them. Now, they're so loose it's time for me to go down a size."

She continued, "Yeah, I like that side effect."

She only did the dry January, but who knows……..she and more people might just quit altogether.

get regular exercise - it's a good way to burn off any frustrations, it'll make a big difference in your feeling of well being.

I didn't quit drinking, but I did quit smoking and regular exercise made a big difference!

Keep going, day at a time, one insight at a time - you got this!
