The election was "Stollen".... Here's what went into it.....

Ok, so my MIL was born in Hamburg and left just before the nazi's stopped emigration. She passed down a traditional recipe for Stollen (German fruit bread).

So if you ever want a Stollen election, this is what goes into it (some ingredient's are american equivalents):

light raisins
dark raisins
chopped citron
chopped walnuts
chopped almonds
butter
almond paste (marzipan)
sugar
cinnamon
eggs
yeast
evaporated milk
flour

I've made it. It is a phenomenal amount of work, but I kind of like it. The amounts I have are approximate and I hesitate to list amounts. Lets just say there is a lot of dried fruit and sweet marzipan.
