Ice Freezes Crystal Clear on Munising Bay

"The video was filmed inside of Munising Bay on Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I and other lifelong residents have never seen the ice freeze over in such a manner. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The ice was approximately 5-6 inches thick, providing a great opportunity for people to walk, ice skate, and ice fish on the bay."

… is that the ice is not under a thick carpet of snow. Munising typically gets well over 100” of snow each winter. Much of that will fall before the bay freezes over, but no snow since that night?

First, the water has to be reasonably low in minerals, but it has to freeze slowly enough to push out dissolved oxygen as the change in state occurs.
If it freezes to fast, the surface seals in the oxygen bubbles.
In this case, it helps that the oxygen had somewhere to go, like down into the liquid water.
