... And I was kind of blown away. Gave me back a much more concise and assertive version. Didn't expect much, but will use the result with some minor editing.

How convenient. Why should anyone bother to learn to think, research and write for themselves? And why expect kids to learn if they can cheat their way through school? Especially if they see how happy adults are with ChatGPT and other AI giving them answers and doing the writing for them.

Hell, why don't they just replace Jeopardy contestants with individuals who have no idea what the answer might be, but ask ChatGPT the question?

Writing, like speech, is basic communication. It's also an aid to reasoning.

Turning that over to AI stunts people. Dumbs them down.

And yes, I know it's entertaining, and it can be a great time-saver if you're happy to let it find the answers and do the writing for you.

It's potentially addictive that way.

Which is why OpenAI offered it for free. To hook people. And now that they have a lot of people, including a lot of students, thinking they NEED it, OpenAI is starting to charge monthly fees for the better versions. Which will soon be seen as the necessary versions.

And btw, it's quite possible that the websites and publishers that previously could give you information you could find, if you looked for it yourself, will start to disappear, as AI causes their traffic and revenue to drop, ripping them off without identifying sources.

it is tons of fun. But geez, you should see the stuff some of these people do. I have no clue how they do them.

This one is free.
