(3,164 posts)I love Japanese pickles, too! Plus kim chi.
Sadly, I had to give up the pickles when I had to cut the salt.
How about pickled asparagus, or Talk o' Texas pickled okra? Mmmmm....::sigh::
Yeah, bread and butter pickles are good but kind of sugary - but a couple of slices on a sandwich is tasty.

(23,612 posts)They are the only sweet pickles I like.
I love kosher dills, and half sours.
Dill. It has to be Dill. Whole, sliced, spears, cubed, diced, relish, fried, in potato salad, on burgers, as a snack with cheese slices. And now my stomach is telling me I need to go make a peanut butter and dill pickle sandwich

(16,344 posts)Damn Good Dill Pickles, a recipe from The Oregonian from years back. Still can be found via Google. They are a favorite of my nieces, who both ask for quarts when they come over.
I didnt can any last year because I had no kitchen (major gut and remodel). But generally I start the canning season by making the brine and storing in my extra fridge in half gallon jars.
Im limping along with 3 more quarts I til canning season. Im also not sharing any
Theyre fairly spicy.
