was that dumb, silly, or stupid to do that? I remember going to the Drive In and smoking op----- h--- and drove home on RT 30 with my friends. It was dumb and we were lucky. Rt 30 is a main hilly highway here. I was 18. I still cringe when I think of how stupid I was.
Or driving home from Pink Floyde's concert with a friend on LSD on the Parkway through the Tunnels in Pittsburgh in 1973. Dumb.
Cousin went through a drainage pipe, down to the river. She asked me to go with her. I was afraid of rats. So I met her at the river instead. Never regretted not going through. She also crossed a railroad bridge. I declined. Never was a drinker. Slid down huge slag piles on boxes.
What did you do then, that you would never do now? And looking back are glad you made it to your 21st birthday.

(171,698 posts)during the gas crisis of 1973 ......... my dad found out when my bf and I were returning the gas cans to my dad's garage.....he gave us a severe lecture, but when my bf mentioned he had "five extra gallons", my dad said, "Put it in the (his) Impala)".....

It happens to the best of us. Most of the time I accidently leave out words in a sentence so I sound extremely intelligent. I even proofread and still have missing words.

(17,757 posts)20. I would drive holding one hand over an eye to keep from seeing double. I was damn lucky, and brought that kind of behavior to a screeching halt when I was driving home plastered and came upon a fatal wreck that was one of my buddies who most likely was doing the same thing. There was hair, teeth any eyeballs all over the road and it was a wakeup for me.

(16,951 posts)There was a period between 15- and 16-years-old that I was out of control. It is a miracle I didn't get killed or arrested. My parents were so wrapped up in their own lives that they really didn't have a clue about my risk-taking behaviors. Fortunately, I got it out of my system and ended up quite responsible, even working, going to school, and living on my own by the time I was 17. It could have gone either way.

(60,568 posts)very abusive. Lucky, I put myself through college. Lived up in the Nittany Mountains and worked at a factory. Got a job. Can't say I got myself together as I am still on that journey to free myself from the sexual, physical and emotional abuse. But I have come a long way.

(4,280 posts)I remember skipping school a few times, driving downtown to Denver City Park, meeting some strangers ( guys) who were stationed at Lowry AFB, and going with them to their housing unit and playing cards...we could have disappeared and no one would have had a clue what happened to us. Lucky girls we were. And another time , we met a couple of guys living in a run down motel on South Santa Fe ( The Titan Manor if you know old Denver) and went to their room with them...again..escaped unscathed.

(60,568 posts)but you were damn lucky. Can't see doing that today. I don't think we were dumb, just young and thinking it won't happen to us. We were lucky it didn't.

(11,849 posts)The last time I did it, I got too close to the diving board and the inside of my arm had a diving board rash from the elbow to the wrist. It hurt.
I'm lucky that I didn't hit my head, knock myself out and drown in our pool.
