Xanaduer2Cat has an ear infection.

He's been shaking his head and ears in a weird way for weeks. He went in today for scheduled care. In so glad I told the vet. He had a bacterial ear infection. He's also FIV+.

everything was about $330. but he's worth it

It's a 2-week antibiotic shot.

Maybe different cuz he's FIV +?

His values are a bit off. It may be because of the infection she said

for example, I paid extra for a shot rather than attempt to give a cat several doses of a medicine

I learned about Convenia after trying to use the pill shooter provided by vet for abxs to treat an idiopathic uti.

Yikes. Day 1 was fine. Day 2 was never going to happen, so back to the vet we went & she got a shot.

Saved me from being shredded

I'm just glad vet had an option. Otherwise I would have had to drive her there however many times per day for them to dose her.

I hired a wiry teenaged neighbor - he got it done, after cornering the cat in the back bedroom and after a lot of banging and clanging

Same with Pittie. I have to take him to vet for nail clips because he sees it as an invite to roughhouse (at home).

At vet, he licks the tech's hands. Go figure.

he said, when your cat is at the vet's, he is out of his element - it's a different surrounding with the sights and sounds and smells of many other animals....your cat is distracted and probably views the vet as ALPHA. But at HOME - well, THERE they rule the roost and they OWN YOU so it's an entirely different story! LET THE SHREDDING COMMENCE!

Even putting the cat on an unfamiliar surface such as the bathroom counter makes nail clipping possible.

They see us as upright can openers with opposable thumbs.

I also had a FIV+ kitty that was prone to ear infections.

I use to have to put 1 scoop of Viralys L-lysine powder once a day into his wet food to help boost his immune system. It's less expensive to purchase through Chewy or Entirely Pets compared to the vet's office if you need an immune booster.

Good luck. Hope kitty feels better soon.

Just swab Betadine in your animals ears. It works big time.

Vets charge so much money-

Glad your kitty is ok. I had to put my last kitty down at 19 yrs old & I still think of him every day.
