She is sleeping most of the time and is very weak.
I knew this was coming for the past month but damn this is hard.
I miss her already.
She had a good long life 11 years, she is a large dog.
My heart is breaking right now, I had for from a 6 week puppy.
She will pass sometimes tonight or tomorrow.
She was my baby.

(68,644 posts)So sorry.
I hope she runs across my Bridgette in doggy heaven.
They'll have a lot of fun together.
So sorry for your loss.

(60,018 posts)we've been where you are twice before. be at peace - and know how fortunate both you and your dog are to experience your bond. The pain will pass, the memories will stay and they will be wonderful.

It's SO difficult to lose a loved one.

Vibes that this will be as easy a passage as possible for both of you. It sounds like
you were BOTH blessed to have had each other for all that time.

(205,839 posts)I am so very sorry. I've been there and it never gets any easier. My heart is breaking for you.
But try and remember that you're there for her when she needs you the most and how incredibly fortunate she was to have found you to love her.

(41,694 posts)I got one that's 16 and a half and every day I'm afraid to look when I get up. I rescued him and his two brothers when I found them dumped on a county road when they were about 6 weeks old. He's the only one left.

(158 posts)He has heart problems, incontenence and is blind in one eye. The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is check on him (he is always on the floor next to the bed).

(47,675 posts)Sadly, part of the deal is saying good-bye and it's never easy. I had to put down a 15 year old dog and a 15 year old cat in the same year 15 years ago. I cried for a long time, especially while I was digging the graves. Just hold her and tell her you love her. It sounds like she'll go peacefully. Hang in there.

(2,477 posts)We lost both of our dogs earlier this year, each within 2 months of each other. They both lived to the ripe old ages of 16 yo.
It's hard when you lose part of your family which our animals do become.

(158 posts)I look at the grief and mourning that we humans feel when losing a pet the "price" we pay for the many years of unconditional love and comfort they give to us. Nothing so good can be free......

(6,011 posts)A beautiful big girl, playing with her friends at the bayou. Life doesn't get much better.
Ten years ago our old dog Billie girl died splayed across my lap while we were camping. She was old, too, and her heart just stopped beating.
My sincere condolences. I found it helped to sit down and write anything that came to my mind about Billie, including my silly nicknames for her.
