What would you do with a basket like this?

It's about 11 inches on each side. I really like it but...what to put in it? I was thinking bath towels for guests and like that.

What would you put in it?

Thanks!

Light elves (good elves) are ok but never ever let a Dark elf (evil elf) use your bathroom. It never goes away and the smell...just don't light a match. Lighting a match will just set it on fire and then it gets worse. The fire-dept. won't come near the house when they find out the cause. They insist on Haz-Mat being there, but Haz-Mat will refuse saying that they don't do Dark Elf Spoor. They usually suggest an exorcist and they never believe you. You're better off abandoning the burning wreck and moving to another state.

If it hasn't caught fire, call for the Haz-Mat team and lie to them. They'll deal with it but you have to hope you never need to call them again.

I put the 'bath' towels on the rack on the wall, since they are fairly large.

In the basket I put rolled up hand towels, wash cloths, a bar of soap, new travel size tubes of toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, vanilla body spray (or whatever flavor you wish), a couple new toothbrushes still in their packages, travel size deodorant (which can be tossed when they leave if it has been used), etc.

Overnight guests tend to always forget to pack something or the other, so I always try to remember to tell guests to feel free to take from the basket whatever they need.

We keep a similar but larger basket by the front door for shoes. We tend to take off our shoes upon walking in the door, and kids' friends have picked up on our custom. Depending on how many people in your household, your basket may be big enough for this purpose.

It's not a requirement, though. We're just more comfortable in slippers...

Books or magazines. Now, that's another great idea.

I may need more baskets!

What a beautiful basket! My first thought was rolled-up hand
towels (I saw this in the "public" restroom of one of the finer
resorts around here (I had gone there to a Lucy Kaplansky
concert)... but like even better Tx4Obama's suggestion of a
guest bathroom "grab bag" -- as I'm a forgetful traveler myself.

This resort was AMAZING!!! Even the handtowels in the "public"
restroom were heated. Lucy showered praises (forgive, please)
on their guest bathrobes. I think she would've liked to have
kept hers on for her show!!!

I like to keep a basket by the door for stuff that has to go out: library books, mail etc, and I keep the empty reusuable grocery totes there too so I don't forget them when I go to the store.

I love the idea of having the little toiletries for guests - we never have guests, otherwise thats a great idea.

I have a basket that I keep a collection of "pamper me" stuff - bath lotions, pedicure set and stuff that hubby knows is hands off.

Maybe you can keep asking for the consumables to be refilled? lol

Its a lovely basket - I like reading all the suggestions!

I have a basket that I use that holds all of our fruit and veggies for the week that we don't refridgerate. I like having something that holds everything together in one spot!

then whatever was on the bottom would rot and leak through to the shelf or table then the basket would get moldy and I would stick it out on the porch on the washing machine planning to give it a scrub with bleach water. Someone would come along wanting to wash some clothes and would stick it on a shelf out of view and we would all forget about it for months or years then one day I would notice it and clean it off finally and the cycle would start over. Unless the cat jumped up on the shelf where it was sitting and knocked it off on the floor under an avalanche of other junk in which case it would probably get crushed and broken and POSSIBLY, MAYBE, eventually hauled off and burned.

The bathroom goodies for company is a good idea. My mom did things like that. I try, but the offspring steal it all.

I just stuck it behind the passenger seat of my new car as the 'trash' can. Since the mailbox is at the end of the road, I tend to toss the junk mail in the back so it doesn't pile up in the house. With my new car, I really wanted it to look neater, the basket was just the thing, and so easy to clean the car too!
