Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWell i've tried and tried to find out why it's almost impossible to buy Brachs Double Dipped peanuts
Anybody here smart enough to figure this out? I've googled like crazy. My son asked me if we can buy them where we live, because he can't there. I said oh yea we can get them, but all of a sudden we can't get them here either. Well, just thought i'd ask here.

(22,466 posts)WOW! crazy price. Just trying to find out the reason for this all of a sudden. No stores in North Dakota or Wyoming carry them. (that i know of anyhow)

(2,356 posts)Though you'd normally want to temper the chocolate so it doesn't melt so quickly in warm hands.
Double-Dipped Peanut Recipe:
Melt chocolate, add peanuts, pour out, and let cool. Use parchment paper to line the cookie sheet, if you have some or even tin foil. This is just so the chocolate doesn't adhere to the bottom of the pan, but even if it does, no big deal, just use a spatula to loosen them. You don't plan to sell them at the flea market so they don't have to be beautiful.
Then to double-dip, after they have fully cooled, melt more chocolate, add peanuts, and again, pour out and let cool. Voilà, you have double-dipped peanuts.
Chocolate melts easily in the microwave, just do short time, stir, short time, stir, like 10-15 seconds at a time. No rush. Stove-top works but if any steam or water gets in the chocolate it will seize and become a big ball of crap, so avoid that.
If you're game, buy a good chocolate bar (chocolate chips aren't the best because they usually contain extra ingredients to keep their shape, but will work if all else fails), and buy a small bag of nuts -- whatever kind you want. Just melt the chocolate, add enough peanuts that they can be fully covered when you mix it up, and go from there.
I know I hate when I can't find the candy I want-- they used to sell these potato chip-shaped rice krispy chocolates and I really want some! And yes, I do make myself but still wish I'd find them. For those, I add some malted milk powder to mimic Nestle Crunch.

(22,466 posts)Not sure what's going on. Hell was like maybe 2 weeks ago, we had bags and bags of all type Brach's chocolates, but NOTHING now.Just trying to discover the reason.

(41,071 posts)I havent seen my all time favorite candy, Brachs malted milk Robins Eggs ANYWHERE.
Its just as well, though, because I am powerless to stop eating them until I drift away into a sugar coma.

(22,466 posts)Somehow they effed up the dam recipe, and they were (ARE) really bad now. The peanuts are still ok. (if you can find them)

(10,497 posts)ever since they ran a month-long coupon for them. They ran out within 4 or 5 days. The store(s) claim their empty shelves are due to a production issue and they simply cant get any more.

(22,466 posts)But i got a feeling maybe Brachs is maybe stopping production of certain products? I don't know. To add here we have NO problem finding M&M's both kinds here.

(4,158 posts)Ingredients
3 cups Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips 18oz
1 cup White Chocolate Chips 6oz
2 cups Dry Roasted Salted Peanuts 12oz
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil or Shortening 15ml
Line large baking sheets with parchment or wax paper. You will need at least 2 large baking sheets.
In a heavy saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips and shortening/coconut oil until smooth and runny. Stir in peanuts. Turn off the heat.
OR
Add the chocolate chips and coconut oil/shortening in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave it for 1 minute.
Then remove the bowl and stir. The chocolate should start melting. Put the bowl back in the microwave and heat at 30 second intervals. Don't overheat the chocolate or it will become grainy and hard.
Stir between each interval until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Stir in the peanuts. Mix well so that the peanuts are fully covered with melted chocolate.
I've also melted the chocolate mixture in a slow cooker with good results.
Drop chocolate peanut mixture onto the prepared baking sheets. Leave some space between each cluster. You can use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to do this.
Put the baking sheet in the refrigerator until it sets. You should be able to easily lift up the cluster.
Remove all the clusters and store in an airtight container. Keep them away from the heat and direct sunlight. Store them in the refrigerator for a longer shelf life.
SO GOOD!
