to me some years ago.

I'm cruising along at the speed limit on a semi rural road and some yahoo in a fancy pants car comes speeding up to me from the rear, passes, and then speeds off.

A mile up the road I see him on the side of the road where he was pulled over by a cop, getting a speeding ticket.

Rude rude rude. Due mostly to a combination of selfishness and carelessness, and a lot of affluence based "I own the road" attitudes. It seems most people basically just do what they want, and it's up to you to be vigilant to avoid collsions, even if you have to relinquish your right of way. It gets worse, there are a lot of upstate South Carolina drivers around here as well, and they're even worse. I've got friends who live there and they say the attitudes down there are even more lax. Oh, many many of these rude douchebag's cars are festooned with all manner of religious displays, including the ever popular fish symbol. My answer to some car's driver with a WWJD bumper sticker: "He'd use his goddamned directional signals!"

I also must agree with the OP. Las Vegas really is a zoo driving wise and the times there I made immediate note of the fact that the rudeness of drivers there rivaled that of NC...And I've been all over the US other than the pacific NW.

I live 30 miles outside Charlotte and I swear people here don't know how to drive.. I've had people pull out in front of me many times; it's a good thing I have good brakes. Also, people here don't seem to know what a turn signal is, apparently they think I can read their mind and can tell when they're going to turn.. drives me nuts!!

You mentioned: I've had people pull out in front of me many times; it's a good thing I have good brakes

That seems to have proliferated recently. Even though they approach from a small side street on to a faster moving main road, they still play chicken with you: They come flying up and you can tell they never even intended to slow down; let alone make a full stop at the stop sign. They know damned well their aggressiveness scares you: Even though you're on the main road and have the right of way, they know if they frighten you enough you'll slow down ( even panic brake ) and then they just pull out in front of you and make absolutely zero effort to get up to traffic speed....at least until they finish their text. Like I said, it's like everybody just does whatever the hell they want. Utterly lawless. I never see aggressive driving punished, except maybe speeding.

I apologize if I'm rambling, I just had to vent with somebody who would understand.

Nobody wants to be behind one, so they swing right out in your path. Look, I get we drive a little slower than people like to drive, but we can't STOP AS QUICKLY. So when you pull out in front of us you might just get hit when I can't stop in time.

Bring two one way roads heading the same direction together to make a one-way road that is now two lanes wide and heading in the same directions. Minnesotans will stop or slow to 10 mph at the point the two lanes come together. I have also seen people stop for green lights in Minneapolis a dozen times in the last few months. GREEN LIGHTS!!

They either slow down at the bottom of the ramp, or blithely push right along, oblivious to the oncoming traffic. No signal, nada.

At least the half dozen long weekends I spent there.

Compared to where I'm from they're like goody two-shoes type drivers...and they use turn signals! Very refreshing change from home. Friends with me remarked the same.

Or a two-way road that turns into a one-way and they want to make a left turn. They STILL wait for oncoming traffice. Case in point: 36th Street at Nicollet.

DC - Them idiots barely have to drive, so when you see them drive, expect a Sunday driver.
MD - Punks have road rage, they will pass you just to get stuck five seconds later.
TX - @ssholes that drive two lanes in any street. Every single time I see a Texas license plate I stay a block or two away.
VA - Entitled-feeling pieces of sh_t that cut you off and slow down in front of you. Goes towards the right to block you from turning before going left and blocks the middle of the street on a red light because they inched forwards as soon as they stopped.

You have people driving miles with their turn signal on, making left turns from the right hand lane, weaving in and out with no signal, driving on the shoulder, etc. There appear to be no speed limits, either. Just speed suggestions.

I swear not a single person in this state understands that the left lane is for passing. Almost everyone just cruises in it at the same speed as the cars in the right lane.

The worst is the person who is in the left lane when they are the only car on the highway for a mile. Once you close the gap and come up behind them, they feel the need to play speed limit police by staying in the left lane.

Newsflash asshole! You driving 55 in the left lane while eating a ham sandwich, texting, and shaving your pubes, is more dangerous than the guy going 80 with both hands on the wheel.

Not to mention that in Philly, if you don't start moving at a red light BEFORE THE LIGHT EVEN TURNS GREEN (in anticipation of it turning green), the person behind you blows their horn because you didn't get going fast enough.

That happens to me at least once a week.

Yes, that one--home of the Golden Ghetto, and the Mission Hillbillies (takes two of 'em to change a light-bulb: one to call an electrician, and one to mix martinis!)

I once had to rent a car when mine went in for repairs, and they gave me one with Johnson County license plates. I got in the car, and instantly felt all the common courtesy drain from my body! I had this car, and, yes, the road came with it, by god! I immediately had an overpowering urge to stick a cell-phone to my ear, run people off the road, and ignore traffic signals and speed limits with impunity. Yes, for the time I had that car, I WAS more important than anyone else around me!

I'm glad I got rid of it before the weekend.

biggest collection of selfish, unobservant, in a rush totally oblivious, they can/do assume the laws of physics do not apply to them. I learned to drive in Detroit and the suburbs, spent time in college in Chicago. Columbus, especially Interstate270 and 315 are major blood pressure raising locations. Turn signals are optional or removed by devoted ohio state fans if the car is assembled in Michigan. I have taken care of senior citizens who drive during a work day, that has made me very grateful I'm worked in a concrete and lead lined building. I have thought long and hard about telling the security guard who is a sheriffs deputy/cops about some of these people, but it possibly would violate HIPPA and get me in massive trouble,
The ongoing construction resembles spaghetti thrown against a wall, and that is how a main artery was chosen...i can go on, but just thinking about this is bringing up my agoraphobia/fears of driving. These people scare me..alot

dallas has the absolute worst traffic I have ever seen. As in "I'm in the middle lane in stopped traffic on I-35 just N of downtown, and one person on each side of me at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock decide to have a standoff in front of me at 12 o'clock, and they are each trying to get to the lane on the other side of me, and they won't budge.

I've never seen such 24 karat assholery.
