(4,292 posts)One of the major streaming services is now showing "Duck Soup," a 1933 film starring the Marx Brothers. Watching it last night was a great pleasure, and this line from Groucho's character -- Rufus T. Firefly -- really got my attention:
Does that sound familiar at all?
Groucho plays Rufus T. Firefly, the dictator of bankrupt Freedonia and who declares war on neighboring Sylvania over the love of his wealthy backer Mrs. Teasdale, contending with two inept spies who can't seem to keep straight which side they're on. Source: IMDB

(86,867 posts)That's exactly where my mind went!
I remember Groucho, my family regarded him and his kin as our kin somehow. Maybe he was, don't know. I remember watching "You Bet Your Life" on teevee. I liked him better than Jack Benny.
I think I watched every one of their movies and late life teevee cameos.

Heres why I ask: I attended college with Charlie, and try to keep up with his latest bits of wisdom. Oddly, this one didnt appear on my radar .
Many thanks!
