I've had espresso machines, one of which exploded in my kitchen. Luckily I was not near it when the top blew off of it or I could have been badly burned. Never again, not a cheap one anyway. We tried a Keurig machine, $100 for a coffee pot that leaked all over my counter before it was one year old. Also never again. Right now I'm using a simple Mr. Coffee drip machine. My wife and I only drink one cup a day, so I make a whole pot then put it in the refrigerator and it will last about three days. We just heat it in the microwave. Sometimes simple is best for me.
We have used Peete's Coffee for years, but they have literally doubled their price in recent years so I've been buying Dunkin Donuts Espresso at a discount grocery store for half the price of Peete's and I can't tell the difference.

(2,010 posts)I did it at a place where I worked. Sometimes I would set it and the bread machine for morning coffee and bread. Absolutely wonderful

(17,450 posts)I've not seen that yet, but we do sometimes enjoy genmaicha, a Japanese green tea mixed with toasted rice.
I have some raw almonds - I'll read up on it and give it a go.
I have a double shot of espresso once or twice a year, otherwise it's teatime. 🍵

(39,828 posts)I get up, get dressed, make coffee. Take dog out, feed dog, give dog her pills. Coffee comes along in a travel mug. 🙂. Breakfast, if I decide to have any, comes along around 9:30-10.
For some reason, when I have a cold, I prefer tea. Thats the only time I drink tea. Mr. Diamond drinks neither one.

If it is already warm when I wake up I will have a tall glass of
iced tea..half ice, no sugar, splash of non fat milk.
I prefer a black tea bag and maybe along with another non caffeinated flavoured
tea bag all steeping in boiling hot water.

(75,887 posts)On 2 different occasions, coffee gave me cred.
My first time in Italy (out of 40 something times) I was visiting a reactor design company. When it was time for a meeting break, we went to the coffee room. Our host asked everyone how much sugar they wanted in their espresso (cafe, to the Italians). When he came to me, I said none. Boom, I was suddenly one of them!
Same thing happened in a bakery in Key West (near the east end of Flagler) with a bunch of older Cuban guys. When they saw me drinking bucci with no sugar. At that moment, I was part of the tribe, sitting at their table for 15 minutes before dawn then off to the golf course.
Every 3 years, same thing! They remembered the Chicago guy who drank their coffee with no sugar.
Second one:
I was in Boston on business to audit a supplier making a chemical that went into an FDA registered product. Had to be there first thing Monday morning so left on Sunday. If I left early, I got upgraded to first class without burning frequent flyer miles. But, I've got nearly all day to kill. So, I decide to drive to Springfield College where an old neighborhood friend was a professor in the music department.
I go to a Dunkin' in the rest area of the turnpike to get coffee. Young lady asks is I want it "regular". I say yes.
As I'm walking out, I take a sip & it's one third cream and sweeter than pecan pie.
I go back in and say I wanted this regular. She says "That is regular." Then it dawns on me; "I'm in Boston".
She laughed & said to give it to her and poured me a new one with nothing in it.
Duh, on me!

(75,887 posts)...high cream & sugar was called a Boston Coffee when i was a kid.
I knew that, I just forgot.
yellowdogintexas
(23,595 posts)I can't recall what you ask for if you want just sugar.
If I recall correctly, Light and Half do not automatically come with sugar. Light is cream only and Half is damn near white.
ProfessorGAC
(75,887 posts)All I know is I wanted black, but around here regular would be interpreted as black.
Not there!
