(69,352 posts)He's a rescue so we aren't sure, but he looks like a chihuahua dachshund mix, and the behavior is right on.

(4,317 posts)They're feisty little critters who love to "dig" and burrow in blankets and pillows. (Dachshounds were bred for fighting badgers). Our little girl actually chased a 200 lb. bear in 2014.

(69,352 posts)Our little guy chased a goose the other day. The goose chased him, neck out, wings out, honking - and chased right back. Brave little guy.
Grumpy Old Guy
(4,317 posts)That seems to be another shared trait. I have no idea where that comes from.

(2,964 posts)If you feed the Kitty then it knows that it has you controlled. If you ignore the Kitty then it will drive you insane. If you take away the bowl then you die.
Our cat Pie had an issue with the opposite end. She would try to cover her waste by scratching at the top edge of the litter box. Never seeming to understand that she will never bury it that way. It drove us crazy. She wouldn't stop until we yelled at her to STOP! I often wonder how long she would have kept going.

He also meows at me whenever he uses his litter box to let me know that I must clean it. Right now!
But just like you, I would never ever spoil a cat.

(12,517 posts)but do they still feed prisoners like that? Where they all come in and once, whistle, sit down, and eat? Thankfully I don't have first-hand knowledge and that commercial - first thing I thought of.

(34,189 posts)After seeing this video, I decided to go with the same wheat straw ones I got last time. The ancient melamine ones I got a thrift store decades ago are showing their age and I like the bamboo ones a lot.
The reason I was considering stainless steel is that apparently some cats can get dermatitis on their chins from plastic dishes. The ones I bought recently are a sort of plastic made from wheat straw so I have no idea if they could cause the same problem. So far, none of my cats have it.
