(12,443 posts)1. What was the cause?
I'm guessing a cigarette lighter?

(33,424 posts)10. Far too big for just a lighter
Perhaps it was a gas dryer and:
1. The lighter explodes,
2. blowing out the dryer burner, but igniting some cloth
3. the natural or propane gas builds up
4. BOOM!
No way that a lighter that fits in a pocket would do all that damage alone.

The whatever (lighter) was there seems to have expanded, pushed the door open, some clothes fall out and with fresh air rushing in, the explosive burning begins.

Those are pretty loud in the dryer. But they came out very clean .
