Mine:
Sourdough bread spread with Dijon mustard and mayo.
Alternate layers of sliced tomatoes and baby Swiss, American, and provolone cheeses.
Brush assembled sandwich with mayo and fry until golden brown. 😋

(5,838 posts)Whole wheat bread, colby/jack cheese, butter bread and fry. After taken out of the frying pan, open sandwich and add mayo. If I have some thin sliced ham, I will add that to the cheese before frying.
Serve with tomato soup.

Well, nice artisan white bread slices, a touch of mayo, a touch of garlic powder on the mayo, thin sliced heirloom tomatoes, and Extra Sharp Cheddar!
The same thing with No caraway seeds dark pumpernickel instead.
Or the pumpernickel etc with swiss cheese instead.
Oh... all grilled in butter till crispy, of course! 😄
I'll bet a grilled cheese w provolone is wonderful, too. Not sure if provolone would go w pumpernickel for me.

Matsutakes grow in the forest where I live but one needs to know where and when to pick, not every year is an abundant year.
Cut 1/2 inch steaks of Matsutake and cook gently in butter along with a finely chopped clove of garlic.
Slice good quality sourdough and lightly mayonnaise.
Add sharp cheddar and Matsutake between the sourdough and grill until crisp in the butter infused with garlic and Matsutake.
This is literally to die for.
