After a quick, updated conversation with my dad where I had to threaten to terminate contact if he ever involved me in antivaxx propaganda again (he's fine...only had covid for 2 days and his bitch wife still has it...surprise) but tried to interject that you can still get it even though you're vaccinated. Also changed the story that the bitch wife has just a cough when I asked how they're doing.
Thank you all for being democratic, always being on the side of fact and justice, and being all around awesome people. I am so f*cking glad I don't have to live with that dirtbag.
The new war against the evil Trump (Hitler) anti-vaxx Nazis is just beginning. These f*cking cockroaches are in overdrive since Trump (Hitler) was arrested and announced he is running again.

(4,988 posts)that I sympathize with what you are saying, although I can be heard calling someone a bitch once in a while. I think the difference is calling one woman a bitch vs. declaring that all women are bitches, which of course no one is saying.
What I'm wondering is if there are words you would use instead of bitch, when name-calling a person you don't like. I can think of gender-neutral ones like asshole, and male-specific ones like prick and dickhead.
I usually just call somebody a jerk.

(54,483 posts)and I am a female. It is a very common noun used by millions of people every day, by women, men, any race and religion. If a woman is calling a man an " asshole" or a "dick" a philogynistic?
It is a commonly used word by zillions of people who are definitely NOT misogynistic.

(7,309 posts)My dad's n-word wife? Same difference.
Sorry for using the n-word, even without spelling it out.

(2,083 posts)Just yesterday, I was pondering the contrast between the generalized use/tolerance of racist vs. sexist slurs. Over time, racist ones have become unacceptable in civilized society (thank goodness), while sexism remains deeply imbedded, even on DU.
Normalized misogyny is still misogyny. The fact that we have all been relentlessly conditioned to accept gendered insults doesnt soften the impact once awareness settles in. Call me woke, I suppose.

(300 posts)To call my stepmother what I did when she's been manipulating my dad since the beginning, hovering over his conversations with me, and policing all of them for no reason.
And you know what? I have zero regrets about saying it.
I never said this against all women. I love women. I simply called a person in my life I hate a name and called out Trumpism for how damaging it is. That is not misogynistic and not against the DU TOS.

(248,777 posts)I have run across a couple of people who were suspicious of the vaccine, but I was fortunate to be able to ignore them - or give them a wide berth. My friend and I used to go to a local meeting which was run by a woman who was anti vaxx and anti mask, she got into an argument with another woman about it, so we just stopped going.
And some of these people really are deluded - early on I was having a conversation with a couple of people about when and where we managed to get vaccinated when an older gentleman overheard us and said that his daughter, who is a nurse at the local hospital, would quit her job if she had to get vaccinated - turned out that later on the hospital dismissed anyone who worked there who refused. And this same gentleman added that his granddaughters weren't getting vaccinated, either, in case they wanted to have children someday! He really said that.
So the crazies are out there, we're glad that you found us.
