Once there were two women
Who never knew each other
One you don't remember
The other you call mother.
Two different lives
Shaped to yours one
One became your guiding star
The other became your sun
The first gave you life
The second taught you to live in it
The first gave you a need for love
The second was there to give it
One gave you a nationality
The other gave you a name
One gave you the seed of talent
The other gave you aim
One gave you emotions
The other calmed yours
One saw your first smile
The other dried your tears
And now you ask me
Through your tears
Through the years
Heredity or Environment
Which are you a product of
Neitherm my son, neither
Just two different kinds of love.

I didn't write this. The author is unknown. At the time, we had an open adoption, where the mother choses the adopted parents. Through the years, we sent letters, pictures, and mothers day cards to her. . We met her accidentally at the zoo. She will always be in my heart. Thank you, Liz. Happy Birthday. Thomas James-a combination of both of our chosen names.

This is a Christmas song, but I always thought it was more appropriate for Father’s Day.

Joseph. But yes, it would be a very good Father's Day song. Thank you,
