when I was a kid and placed on the couch in the room we could not sit in, lol
I do love the couch and lamp behind it. I swear we had that same lamp.

got me though, is that even if the slip covers were on the furniture, some people STILL WOULDN'T let you sit on the furniture.

that you could keep your couch perfect forever.

In the summer if you were sweaty you would stick to the plastic. The couch may have been clean but the covers were gross.

…a neighbor’s house on the way to the bus, and walked the rest of the way with their daughter. Her mom was whay my mom used to call a “demon housekeeper.” I’d wait in the entryway which looked in to the living room. Plastic cover on the sofa and chairs, and even on the lampshades.

I don’t think that there were actually stanchions with velvet ropes barring entry, but it felt like there were.
