I'm finding it fascinating. The performances are wonderful. Claire Foy won two Emmys for portraying the Queen - she was splendid. John Lithgow won one as Winston Churchill - completely unrecognizable as himself. Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher was great (also unrecognizable as herself). Olivia Colman as the Queen is fantastic. Excellent performances across the board.

So many more.
One of my favorite actresses, Nicola Walker, leads Unforgotten and has a part in season three of Scott & Bailey (I think she appears in four episodes). Her role in Scott & Bailey is exceptionally well-acted. The best actors/actresses, indeed.

(12,786 posts)I feel like the powers that be are trying to soften me up for a king, queen or just a dicktater in the US. So, when I watch, anything positive about a royal I have to question it. Is this propaganda or did this really happen this way. Luckily most historical King and Queen sagas don't have a lot of good things to say about feudalism.
It was one of the reasons it took me so long to watch Game of Thrones (Besides recognizing the story line from a science fiction magazine.) Luckily for me if it's fantasy, it doesn't bother me as much. Beware we may get fire breathing dragons. Oh yeah........

(10,143 posts)Interesting how all the actors cast as King Charles are way better looking than the real thing.

(1,555 posts)Right?! And so far (I'm only in season three) everyone who's portrayed him has been exceptional.

(7,059 posts)I went in with low expectations and had my socks blown off. We're making our way down our To Watch List to The Crown and will prolly get there about August or Sept. with our schedules. The two critics I read (haven't let me down yet) recommend it, so we'll get there.
